This month, Showtown’s “In the Spotlight” feature introduces Helen Shelley, an award winning, established interior designer.
Helen works internationally, creating customer-facing retail, cultural environments & commercial interiors; where experiential elements and brand values are key.
Helen is currently working with MWorldwide on the retail design for Showtown.
We asked Helen a few questions about working with Showtown and what she is most looking forward to when the museum opens!
What are you enjoying most about working with Showtown?
I’m loving the content & people that we are working with. The rich history, colourful material and all round positivity is a wonderful world into which to immerse ourselves and develop a design concept. It really fires the creative process.
How are you able to bring Showtown’s brand values to life through the retail design?
The Showtown brand values are a key thread that runs through the whole design. This has helped drive the design. We have taken the brand colours, attitude and graphic style and used it as the foundation to the retail design, within the furniture, finishes, lighting, signage and the product ranges. The shop is going to be a 3D version of the colourful theatrical Showtown brand and visitor experience.
If you had to describe Showtown in 3 words, what would it be?
Happy, Funny, Fascinating.
What are you most looking forward to when Showtown opens?
I can’t wait to see and feel the experience come to life, learning about the history of Blackpool and seeing people's reaction to the colour and exuberance of Showtown.
