Here you will find information on facilities at Showtown.
Toilets
During your visit, we have two sets of gender neutral toilets open for visitors to use. One set is on the first floor opposite the ticket desk and the other set is in the gallery space by It's better with the lights on gallery.Accessible Toilets
Accessible toilets are located with the toilets on the ground floor and by It's better with the lights on gallery. The ground floor toilet is a left hand transfer and the first floor toilets are right hand transfer.Changing Places Toilet
We have a Changing Places toilet which is accessed via radar key. Please ask a member of staff if you need radar key access. This toilet is on the first floor but is easily accessed and near to the lifts. The space includes a unisex accessible peninsular toilet with handrails and grab bars, adjustable height washbasin with grab bars, wet room shower, multi-care trolley with adjustable height and tilting back rest, electric hoist system to 200kg, privacy folding screen, emergency call point and 6 hooks for clothes/possessions. There is plenty of room for at least two carers and a wheelchair user.Parent and Baby Room
Our Parent and Baby room can be found on the first floor opposite the ticket desk. Showtown is a breast feeding friendly venue, however this space will have a chair for feeding if desired and a baby changing unit.Family Toilet
To make your visit easier with children, we have a family toilet with all sets of gender neutral toilets.Lifts
The museum is located on the first floor of the building and this can be accessed via the main staircase or our two lifts.Mobility Scooters
Due to space restrictions, architecture and as a matter of public safety in a busy environment, we can allow a certain type and amount of mobility scooters in at any one time in Showtown.Your scooter must be a class 1 or 2 model with the capability of travelling at no more than 4mph. Class 3 are not permitted. It should also have anti-tip wheels at the back and have a turning circle of no more than 1.5m. Lastly, it must fit within the standard wheelchair footprint, which is 1.2m x .7m. If you would like to bring your mobility scooter to Showtown, please do let us know when booking.
If your scooter does not fit these criteria, we will have wheelchairs for visitors to borrow (see below) but please be aware that we do not have designated space to leave mobility scooters outside the building and any scooters left outside are at the visitor's own risk.Wheelchairs/ Walking Aids to borrow
We have a number of wheelchairs and walking aids to borrow during your visit to Showtown.Buggies/ Prams
The museum is pram friendly, however if you are able to navigate the galleries without the use of a pram, we do have a buggy park available. There are 16 buggy locks available which require a £1 coin which you will get back on your return.Lockers
Lockers are available to store your property during your visit to Showtown. Lockers are £1 to use and you will get this back once you no longer need use of the locker.Seating
There is plenty of seating for visitors across the museum.
